
Winners: In order to recognize employees
who go above and beyond the call of duty, the Informatics Center held its
Peoples Choice Awards on June 3. A total of 33 employees
were nominated; winners were selected by a panel of six independant judges
using the VUMC Credo, the informatics Centers core values, and the persons
attitude. Winners here: first place, Rischelle Jenkins; second place, Steve
Timmons; third place, Carol King-Baer; fourth place (tie) Laura Klepper, Gaylon
Stanley, and Chris Wright; and fifth place, Terry Tinsley.
Following
its successful debut last year, once again the month of September has been set
aside as Employee Celebration Month.
Events for the month are scheduled to begin with a kick-off event on Tuesday,
Sept. 2, with recognition and pins for those with 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of
service in 2003.
Over the course of the month, there will be several events scheduled, including
a special day of recognition for people with 25 years of service; and a reception
with Chancellor Gordon Gee at the Chancellors residence, Braeburn, for
those with 30, 35, 40, and 45 years of service.
In addition, plans are coming together for several events, including:
Health Plus physical fitness events, including a fun walk/run
Performances by talented employees
Brown bag sessions on popular topics
Campus historical tours
The return of Ms. Cheap
LifeFlight tours
A softball tournament
Another highlight of the month will be the annual Tailgate event, which will
be Sept. 6, when the Vanderbilt football team plays UT Chattanooga. Winners
of the Commodore Award will be introduced at halftime of the game.
