Mayhew
Koellein recently retired after a four-decade career as a photographer in VUMC’s
Medical Art Group. During the time he worked here Mayhew was a fixture at events
such as Cadaver Ball and graduation, and also photographed everything from surgery
to the headshots of incoming medical students. But what many who encountered
Mayhew’s Medical Center work may not know is that he is also an award-winning
photographer who has shot nature, people, and even spot news events. On these
pages we present a small sample of some of Mayhew’s work, both at work
and away, from the past four decades.
